12 photographers selected for Joop Swart Masterclass 2009 - 12 fotografi selezionati per il Joop Swart Masterclass 2009

Twelve young photographers have been selected to come together with a group of masters for the 16th annual World Press Photo Joop Swart Masterclass to be held from 31 October to 6 November 2009 in Foam_Fotografiemuseum, Amsterdam. The 12 participants were selected among 179 candidates who had been nominated to submit their portfolios. During the masterclass meeting in November, the participant photographers will interact with six prominent experts, discussing technical, journalistic and ethical aspects of their work. The photographers selected are: Kathryn Cook (USA), Matt Eich (USA), Simona Ghizzoni (Italy), Sohrab Hura (India), Benedicte Kurzen (France), Don McNeill Healy (Ireland), Mads Nissen (Denmark), Kosuke Okahara ( Japan), Ali Akbar Shirjian (Iran), Gihan Tubbeh (Peru), Dirk-Jan Visser (The Netherlands) and Alvaro Ybarra Zavala (Spain). The participants were selected by an independent, international selection committee consisting of: Walter Astrada (Argentina) freelance photographer, Nan Goldin (USA) art and documentary photographer, Jan Grarup (Denmark) photographer Noor, Santiago Lyon (USA) director of photography The Associated Press, Jenny Smets (The Netherlands) photo editor Vrij Nederland, Anne Tucker (USA) curator of photography The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.

Dodici giovani fotografi sono stati selezionati per far parte del gruppo di master del sedicesimo World Press Photo Joop Swart Masterclass che si terrà dal 31 ottobre al 6 novembre 2009 presso il Foam_Fotografiemuseum di Amsterdam. I dodici partecipanti sono stati selezionati tra 179 candidati scelti previo presentazione di un portflolio. Durante il masterclass in novembre i partecipanti potranno interagire con sei eminenti esperti, discutere degli aspetti tecnici, giornalistici ed etici del proprio lavoro.I fotografi selezionati sono: Kathryn Cook (USA), Matt Eich (USA), Simona Ghizzoni (Italia), Sohrab Hura (India), Benedicte Kurzen (Francia), Don McNeill (Irlanda), Mads Nissen (Danimarca), Kosuke Okahara (Giappone), Ali Akbar Shirjian (Iran), Gihan Tubbeh (Perù), Dirk-Jan Visser (Olanda) e Alvaro Ybarra Zavala (Spagna). I partecipanti sono stati selezionati un comitato internazionale indipendente composto da Walter Astrada (Argentina) fotografo freelance, Nan Goldin (USA) fotografa artista e di documentazione, Jan Grarup (Danimarca) fotografo dell'Agenzia Noor, Santiago Lyon (USA) direttore del settore fotografico dell'Associated Press, Jenny Smets (Olanda) photo editor di Vrij Nederland, Anne Tucker (USA) curatrice della sezione fotografia del Museum of Fine Arts di Houston.
